KaleidoDocs ("we", "us", or "our") operates the website kaleidodocs.com and the document comparison service. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account information — email address and name when you sign up via Google OAuth or magic link.
- Documents you upload — PDF files submitted for comparison. Files are processed in memory and are not stored permanently on our servers.
- Usage data — comparison count, timestamps, and feature usage to operate the credit system.
- Waitlist data — email address if you submit your email on the pricing page.
- Log data — IP address, browser type, and request logs for security and debugging.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the document comparison service.
- To manage your account and credit balance.
- To contact you about service updates or your waitlist request (you can unsubscribe at any time).
- To prevent abuse and ensure service security.
3. Document Processing
Uploaded PDF files are used solely to perform the comparison you requested. We do not store, read, or analyze your document contents for any other purpose. Documents are processed in temporary memory and discarded after the comparison is complete.
4. AI Processing
When AI explanations are enabled, excerpts of changed text may be sent to third-party AI providers (such as Anthropic Claude via OpenRouter) to generate plain-language explanations. No personally identifiable information is included in these requests.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:
- Supabase — our authentication and database provider (EU-hosted).
- AI providers — for generating explanations (see Section 4).
- Law enforcement, if required by applicable law.
6. Data Retention
Account data is retained until you delete your account. Usage logs are retained for up to 90 days. Uploaded files are not retained beyond the processing session.
7. Your Rights

8. Cookies
We use session cookies necessary for authentication. We do not use third-party tracking or advertising cookies.
9. Security
We use HTTPS encryption and industry-standard security practices to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.

KaleidoDocs is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
